Red and green, Santa, reindeer, snowmen and traditional Christmas motifs with a dose of whimsy are on tap for the 2018 holiday season. Holiday décor design is tapping into a consumer trend of focusing
on home, family and the familiar sights and sounds of a classic Christmas.
“Some of these whimsical looks are a bit more retro. Retro seems to be coming back as an in uence in home decorating,” said Melrose’s Fetgatter. “In holiday, there are retro red and greens, not glittery.”
While tradition will play a role in much of 2018’s holiday décor, expect the unexpected. “We’re introducing an iconic Christmas Pantone on updated graphics and formats. The core business will be classic reds, greens whites and metallics,” Garry Schermann, SVP of sales for Creative Co-Op, said. “We’re not giving up on tradition. That’s something that will remain true for Christmas 2018.”
