W hen we make New Year’s resolutions, we look back at what has worked in our lives and what could use revision. After the busy holiday season—and hopefully a rest—it’s also time to review your business, consider what has done well, and what might bene t from improvement. While this
assessment should be happening all year long, the start of a new year is the perfect time to create a plan so 2018 will surpass 2017.
Retail changes are rapid with shifting demographics, technology and product demands. As a retailer, how do you capture new customers while keeping your loyal customers? Maybe this is the year to add an ecommerce site or open that second—or fth—location (read about The Gypsy Wagon’s expansion on page 168). Maybe this is
a year to bring a new product category or brand to your assortment. Maybe it’s your year for education—to join a buying group and/or collaborate with peers to learn how to enhance your shop’s merchandising and nd new resources. You might want to take a class to better understand that new social media platform.
To stay ahead of the rapid changes, look for inspiration right here in the pages of Source. See some of the latest trends across gift, home, holiday, lighting and fashion. Read rsthand how retailers are using ecommerce with their brick and mortar stores to enhance business. Learn how actress and interior design enthusiast Diane Keaton used Pinterest as inspiration to build her entire home. She’ll be telling us all about that experience in person at the January Total Home & Gift Market!
At Dallas Market Center, we’ve been enhancing our business to help you make your retail business even better. There is so much new in store at this January’s Market. In June, we opened the Interior Home + Design Center. Be sure to stop in and see the many updates this January. You’ll be delighted by the exterior improvements including new windows and landscaping, new on-trend exhibitors and even more niche brands in The Gallery at IHDC.
At the Total Home & Gift Market, we also welcome a record number of new
and expanding showrooms across the marketplace including stylish new resources throughout IHDC, the World Trade Center and Trade Mart. Explore what’s
new on each oor.
We’ve made exciting changes to the temporary exhibits as well. You’ll want to visit Market Hall, which has been completely reinvigorated with exceptional new resources and dining options, including a Beer Garden and a Starbucks. Temps in the Trade Mart and World Trade Center have a great new ow as well. Highlights include new Made and Giving Back sections on WTC 12. At Dallas Market Center, we know how important it is to give back to our communities, especially after weather events have impacted
so much of the United States. Made in America, handmade, unique and unusual are also important distinctions at retail, so we’ve pooled our artisan exhibitors together in Made to help you easily access those brands. And there’s so much more.
We know change requires knowledge, so you’ll have lots of opportunities to learn from our experts, whether in a seminar or on a guided tour of the DMC campus. And all of this is headlined by an inspirational conversation with Diane Keaton.
And of course, one of the most inspiring events at Dallas Market Center this January is the ARTS Awards, the premier awards program for the home industry. Please join us for our 29th year of celebrating the retailers, sales reps, designers and manufacturers who illustrate excellence in their elds. These honorees certainly embrace change.
Stepping away from a comfort zone isn’t easy, but it is necessary. At Dallas Market Center, we want to see you grow and thrive, and together we can achieve that success.
