J. SCHWANKE
For the latest trend, color and merchandising ideas, look no further than Dallas Market Center design expert J Schwanke.
Y ou might know me as the Flower Guy, but my design knowledge reaches far beyond  ora. I hosted the  rst web-based TV show about  owers on uBloom.com. You might also have seen me
as the  ower expert on such national TV programs as P Allen
Smith’s “Garden Home” on PBS. At Dallas Market Center, however, you can learn a lot more from me than just  owers.
I know retail. I research the trends, and I know my way around DMC. I bring that knowledge to the Total Home & Gift Market each January and June via tours that cover topics from colors and trends to display and merchandising. If you’re here for the  owers, I also teach hands- on classes in the World Trade Center Atrium. Start your day with a refreshment and leave having learned a new skill.
My expertise in trends, color, marketing and promotion has positioned me as a design expert, educator and discovery tour guide at DMC. I’m a former Dallas Market Center buyer and successful retail store owner myself. I enjoyed million-dollar annual sales in my Nebraska  ower and gift store before transitioning to  ower expert and host of an online education series. Today, I’m also a promotion and marketing specialist.
I scour the entire DMC campus looking for new trends, colors and dynamic displays to share during our Discovery Tours. I love  nding new inspirations. It’s my passion!
You won’t want to miss the Trends and Color Discovery Tour on January 18. We start from the WTC Atrium at 11:00 AM. If you’re interested in learning about Display and Merchandising, that tour kicks o  at 11:00 AM on January 19, also from the WTC Atrium. In this tour, I feature great display ideas for big and small spaces, showcasing examples from DMC exhibitors. I will also include tips for what NOT to do when creating tra c-driving and sales-enabling visual displays. In my tours and classes, you’ll get lots of new ideas while having fun.  nd new resources, perfect a design technique or solve a display challenge. I have a long list of friends in the design industry. I learn from them and share their knowledge—in a way that’s easy to understand—to help you succeed.
Beyond market, you can keep learning from me too. I o er one of the industry’s trend reports, which premieres in Dallas this January. The uBloom Trend report forecasts trends and colors that are stabilized and available throughout the market in design, furnishings, accessories and  orals.
 Starting in May of 2018, I’ll be hosting my own national  ower lifestyle program, “J Schwanke’s Life in Bloom.” The goal is to empower anyone to include  owers in their daily lives. Flowers make us happy – they encourage good health, reduce depression, and improve our lives.
