INTERIOR HOME + DESIGN CENTER
Your last shared showroom stop on the DMC campus (or your rst depending on where you start shopping) should be the recently opened The Gallery at the IHDC. It’s a designer’s mecca with such brands as Austin Allen James, Wink Gaines Photographer, Cloud 9 Design, Robin Baron, Cari Davis, Lazur, Spicher & Co. and Ashore Inc. A brand-new addition for January is Roberta Schilling, a designer line of furniture and home furnishings that marry design with comfort and function.
“It’s nice to have my own space, where I get to build one-on-one relationships with my customers,” said Allen Austin James, owner
of the art company that bears his name. “My items are often specialty, made to order,” he added noting that the makeup of companies in The Gallery are boutique, where designers and retailers can nd unique pieces they may not nd elsewhere. They also get to deal directly with company principals during markets. The Gallery has a showroom manager, well-versed in all designer lines represented and in direct contact with the designers themselves o -market. That’s a good thing as The Gallery is also open daily.
Whatever your retail category preference, there’s a shared showroom you’ll want to visit at the Total Home & Gift or Apparel & Accessories Markets this winter, January 17-23 and January 24-27, respectively.
To nd resources of specials and events in shared showrooms, check your Buyer’s Directory or the DMC app.
